Director of Training
We have another exciting year planned for 2008. You will find a packed schedule incorporating a number of client suggestions, ranging from course content and locations to additional course offerings. To all of those who have provided comments and suggestions: a very warm, heart-felt thank you.
Based on my interactions with attendees this past year, it’s very apparent that training has become an indicator of an organization’s environmental program success. This is a welcome change from the past decade, when a lot of training was prompted by a regulatory citation mandating training in a specific topic, with a certain amount of hours and a specified frequency.
Now organizations are investing in training as a way to mitigate risk associated with an environmental program. Going all the way back to my career in the U.S. Air Force, I’ve always believed that as employees obtain a higher level of training, the organization benefits from a higher level of compliance.
The highest compliment we get from our clients is when they say we have helped them solve a problem at their organization, and now they can return to their jobs and ask the right questions to ensure compliance. At the end of the day, those statements make my 40 weeks a year of travel all worth while.
I know we will continue to solve your toughest problems with our training courses in 2008 and beyond. Whether I’m meeting you as a first-time Aarcher course attendee or catching up with you and your career as an alumnus of our courses, I look forward to seeing you in 2008.
And, as always, thanks for your continued support of the Institute.
Warmest regards,
Jay Collert, CHMM, CET
