Focused training and workshops for personnel responsible for developing a Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures (SPCC) plan (40 CFR 112.7), managing the development of an SPCC plan, or implementing an SPCC plan.
The SPCC Plans course covers the full range of SPCC elements and considerations, including:
SPCC – A look at the Regulations:
An in-depth look at the federal requirements of the SPCC Plan. You will complete a review of all existing regulations as well as an analysis of the current changes to the plan. See first hand how these new rules can impact your facilities.
Breakdown of an SPCC Plan:
A detailed, step-by-step breakdown of each area of the SPCC plan. The discussion centers on what should be addressed when writing or reviewing a current SPCC plan and how to make the plan more effective in preventing major spills. Understand what the regulators will be looking for during a facility inspection and take action before they visit. Or, much more importantly, before a major spill occurs.
SPCC Workshop I: Inspection Checklists
In this first of two workshops, learn how to use USEPA SPCC inspection checklists and the current CFR 112 regulations by conducting a “table-top” inspection of a generic SPCC plan. By working in small groups, you will gain for the collective knowledge of the class and the instructor by completing the exercise.
SPCC Management: A Team Approach:
First used by the instructor at a major USAF base, managing the SPCC plan can be made much more efficient by the establishment of a SPCC Team. Learn how the SPCC team can make the plan more effective at preventing spills.
The Integrated Contingency Plan: Pros and Cons
To integrate or not integrate: Clearly that is a question for many facilities. By reading the guidance document and applying what has been discussed in the class, an informed decision can be made regarding the use of the Integrated Contingency Plan (ICP). Is it really made for SPCC plans? After this section, you will know the answer.
SPCC Workshop II: Plan Critiques
In this last workshop, put it all together by bringing your own SPCC plan and have it critiqued in class. Using the skills learned in Workshop I, and the checklists and regulations, a through and complete analysis can be accomplished of the plan, giving you an action list to take back to the facility so that immediate results can be realized.
