Spill reporting decisions require immediate action, and often notifications must be made within 15 minutes to avoid late reporting penalties. This course focuses on the evaluation, documentation and notification requirements for spills under CERCLA section 103, EPCRA section 304, Clean Water Act navigable waters, and Clean Air Act's general duty clause.

Preparations and planning to address a possible release and the best ways to deal with overlapping and differing notification requirements are discussed. A workshop is used to address the types of typical spill estimation calculations and decision processes to apply when incomplete information on a spill event is available and compliance decisions must be made.
