ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS): Requirements and Conformance

This concentrated 2-1/2 day course is designed for those who have been tasked with establishing, implementing and/or auditing an environmental management system (EMS) that is compliant to the ISO 14001:2004 Standard. Participants will gain a basic understanding of the purpose of an ISO 14001-compliant EMS and the steps that will be necessary in establishing and implementing an effective EMS. The course includes a special focus on how to establish and implement an effective internal audit program. The course materials assume that those in attendance have not received prior training on either the ISO 14001 EMS Standard or on auditing techniques. Upon completion of this course, participants will have a basic understanding of:
  • the fundamentals of an ISO 14001 EMS, including common interpretations of the requirements of the ISO 14001:2004 Standard
  • best-practice methods for effectively implementing an ISO 14001 EMS and an internal audit program; and
  • critical action items and a strategic action plan that is necessary for implementing an ISO 14001 EMS.
