This three-day course provides you with what you need to know for compliance with Water/Wastewater Quality Requirements under federal laws such as the Clean Water Act and the Safe Drinking Water Act and state analogs. The course is designed for facility managers, environmental compliance personnel, regulators, and legal practitioners with responsibility for compliance and oversight of water quality permitting and pollution issues associated with their wastewater discharges Every facility is subject to some water quality restrictions and this course includes the necessary coverage of wastewater discharge requirements for your industrial, municipal and construction activities. Administrator Lisa Jackson of the Obama EPA has announced a major effort to step up water quality enforcement. Failure to receive adequate training is a common root cause of noncompliance that you can avoid by attending this course. Learn how to stay legal with respect to the rules for wastewater discharges to sanitary sewer, the rules for wastewater discharges to waters of the U.S. or to surface impoundments and wells or to the land surface or the restrictions on your wastewater reuse at your facility. Also learn how to keep your stormwater discharges and potential accidental discharges in compliance with those regulatory programs and permits. Familiarize yourself with the latest with respect to the process and requirements for both types of construction permits (Army Corps 404 and NPDES stormwater 402) and also the standard water quality operating permits (process wastewater NPDES and industrial stormwater MSGP NPDES). The sections that will be covered in detail include:

  • Comprehensive Review of Federal Water Quality Protection, Emphasizing Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act
  • Criminal, Civil, and Administrative Enforcement: How to Protect Yourself from EPA’s Enforcement Initiatives
